Leadership & Example

Lokasaṃgraha — acting for the world's good — 11 verses, starred ones first.

  1. 3.21 Whatever the great one does, others follow. The standard they set — the world adopts. Lead by example.
  2. 1.9 Men are ready to die 'for my sake' — and Duryodhana names this fact without apparent weight.
  3. 1.11 Duryodhana ends his briefing with one clear order: protect Bhishma above all else.
  4. 1.22 Arjuna wants to see who he must fight — a leader unwilling to act blindly.
  5. 3.20 Janaka attained perfection through action — not despite it. Act for the welfare of the world (lokasaṃgraha).
  6. 3.22 Krishna: I have nothing to gain anywhere — yet I act. The model for pure action done for the world.
  7. 3.23 If even I stopped acting, humans would follow. The great one's withdrawal is never neutral.
  8. 3.24 If the great one withdraws, the worlds collapse and they become the cause of chaos — not a neutral bystander.
  9. 3.25 The wise act like the unwise — same actions, same engagement — but without attachment, for the world's welfare.
  10. 3.26 Don't shake the intellect of those not ready for the philosophy. Lead by example — let your action draw others forward.
  11. 10.24 Among priests know Me as Bṛhaspati; among generals I am Skanda — and among waters, the ocean.
