Faith
Śraddhā — the trust that shapes what we become — 32 verses, starred ones first.
- 6.47 ★ Of all yogis, the one whose inner self is merged in Me, worshipping with śraddhā — that one I hold to be most united.
- 17.3 ★ Faith follows one's inner nature. The person IS their śraddhā — whatever one's faith is, that is exactly what one is.
- 18.78 ★ Where yogeśvara Kṛṣṇa is, where archer Pārtha stands — there abide fortune, victory, flourishing, and steadfast dharma.
- 6.37 ☆ O Krishna — the faithful yogi who fell short of yoga's perfection through wandering mind: what is their destination?
- 7.21 ☆ Whatever form a devotee seeks to worship with śraddhā — that very faith I make unwavering.
- 17.23 ☆ OṀ Tat Sat: triple name of Brahman — by which brāhmaṇas, Vedas, and yajñas were ordained in the beginning.
- 17.28 ☆ Whatever is sacrificed, given, done, or tapas practiced without śraddhā — that is asat: naught here or hereafter.
- 1.21 Before fighting, Arjuna wants to see — a warrior who must look before he acts.
- 1.24 Krishna does as Arjuna asks — immediately, without question or hesitation.
- 3.31 Practice this teaching with faith and without fault-finding — you are freed from karma. No full understanding required.
- 4.3 I give you this ancient yoga today because you are My devotee and friend — this is the supreme secret.
- 4.39 The faithful, devoted, sense-controlled person attains jñāna — and quickly reaches supreme peace.
- 4.40 The ignorant, faithless, doubting self is destroyed — no happiness in this world, the next, or anywhere.
- 6.39 O Krishna — cut this doubt of mine completely, without remainder. No one other than You can resolve what I am asking.
- 7.22 With that faith, the devotee worships that deity and gains the desired objects — these being dispensed by Me alone.
- 9.3 Those without faith in this teaching do not attain Me — they return to the path of rebirth fraught with death.
- 9.23 Even devotees of other gods who worship with faith — they too worship Me, though not by the ordained method, O Arjuna.
- 10.14 I hold all You have told me as true, O Keśava — neither gods nor demons know Your manifestation.
- 12.2 Those who fix their mind in Me and worship with supreme śraddhā — these I consider the most perfectly yoked!
- 12.20 Those who follow this nectar of dharma with śraddhā, taking Me as supreme — they are EXCEEDINGLY dear to Me!
- 16.24 Therefore śāstra is your pramāṇa for kārya-akārya. Know what śāstra declares — then act accordingly in the world.
- 17.1 Arjuna asks: those who perform yajña with sincere śraddhā but without śāstric ordinance — what guṇa is their state?
- 17.2 Śraddhā of the embodied is threefold — born of svabhāva (one's own nature): sāttvikī, rājasī, tāmasī. Hear this.
- 17.4 Sāttvic worship Devas; rājasic worship Yakṣas/Rākṣasas; tāmasic worship pretas and bhūta-hosts.
- 17.5 Those who practice ghora tapas without śāstric sanction, driven by dambha, ahaṃkāra, kāma and rāga — āsurī tapas.
- 17.11 Sāttvic yajña: performed as ordained, without fruit-desire, with the conviction 'this must be done.'
- 17.13 Tāmasic yajña: against ordinance, no food-sharing, no mantras, no dakṣiṇā, no śraddhā — declared tāmasic.
- 17.16 Mental tapas: serenity of mind, kindliness, silence, self-restraint, and purity of motive/bhāva.
- 17.17 Sāttvic tapas: the three-fold tapas practiced with supreme śraddhā, without fruit-desire, by the disciplined.
- 18.42 Brāhmaṇa dharma: śama, dama, tapas, purity, forbearance, uprightness, knowledge, wisdom, faith — born of svabhāva.
- 18.70 Whoever studies this sacred dialogue — by him I shall have been worshipped by jñāna-yajña; such is My conviction.
- 18.71 Even one who only hears this with śraddhā and without malice is liberated and reaches the pure worlds of the righteous.
